No. Half of me wouldn't be much of anything.

Yes. It's a fact of my existence. I'm not going to ignore it, or deny it, or pretend I'm more than what I am. Sparda only had two sons; I'm just a byproduct of that.

But here you are, nonetheless, an individual with your own thoughts and feelings.

How does it work? For you. How can your soul be... one out of fourteen?

Our world was split into many, and the souls on it as well. Apparently our existence is deeply upsetting to those few who went unsundered.

What is it about?

... it's about one's relation to others. Dante is my brother, but he is not. Nero is my son, but he is not. I can't... replace that person to them, try as I might. As much as I... might want to. As much as I feel like... like Vergil.

But it... doesn't feel right, to think of myself as someone entirely separate from him, either. Of course I have my own thoughts, my own feelings... but my soul is tethered to his. And... I just know, there is no way to remove that.

Do you know the other people your soul is made up of? Are you connected to them?

...I do not. Am not. It has never been so personal for me, not like your situation.

No one finds sharing souls so... objectionable, where you're from?

'Tis not exactly common knowledge, that there was ever a split at all. Someone who finds it objectionable is here, in fact, but we have managed to... settle our differences, at least a little.

He is not fully a demon either, correct? Or you would not be human.

He and Dante are half-demon. Our--their father was a demon.

... I don't remember much from my childhood. I don't even know the faces of my parents. Just stories of Sparda's legacy... and a fire that broke out when I was very young.

... of course, that was when I was still Vergil.
